Summer Reading Kick Off: Touch-a-Truck
Honk honk! Wee-woo! Beep beep! Join us in the Fairmount Branch parking lot as we kick off our 2023 Summer Reading Challenge: Find Your Voice.
This year, we're speeding into summer with Touch-a-Truck! Come see some of your favorite vehicles from the Davenport Fire, Police, and Public Works Departments. We'll also have a World War II Jeep, WQAD's "The Beast", Kona Ice, our own OWL (Outreach Wheeled Library), and more! You’ll have the opportunity to see vehicles, check out the controls, and maybe even climb inside! While you're here, decorate our sidewalks with chalk, discover the history of some of these vehicles at the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center table, and register for the Summer Reading Challenge.
Buy a cup from the Kona Ice truck and help support our Teen Advisory Board. We'll have giveaways and door prizes too! Everyone (ages 0-19) in attendance who signs up for our Summer Reading Challenge will receive a brand-new free book.
