Peeling Back the Layers – What lurks beneath the Surface?

Peeling Back the Layers – What lurks beneath the Surface? Online

A public presentation will explain ground penetrating radar (GPR) and its usefulness, especially in the location of graves and other structures found below the surface of the ground.  Earlier this year GPR was used at the Davenport City Cemetery to learn more about the Heinrich Oldendorf grave site and that event will be used as a case study for this presentation. Chad Goings of Rolling Hills Consulting Services, LLC, Ph.D., A.B.D in Geo-science from the University of Iowa, who performed GPR procedure at the City Cemetery, will review how GPR functions and the specific results from the City Cemetery project.

Event sponsors: Davenport City Cemetery Partnership, Davenport Parks and Recreation Dept, Davenport Public Library - Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center, Scott County Historic Preservation Society.

This program is suitable for adults and teens.
