Ukulele Workshop: Introduction to the Ukulele with Guided Instruction

Tuesday, October 1, 2024, 6:30-7:30pm, Eastern Library, Meeting Room A. Hands-on ukulele basics and guided instruction by AM Guitarworks - Owner/Instructor Alan Morrison and Staff. Best suited for ages 10 & up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. (Parent/guardian does not need to register if just observing).

Alan Morrison is the owner of AM Guitar Works and has been playing, repairing, customizing, and building guitars for over 40 years. He has a degree in Electronics Technology and learned fretwork at Chicago School of Guitar Making. He is also a working musician as lead guitarist in Identity Crisis, a 12-piece classic rock band based in the Quad Cities. He is skilled in all aspects of guitar repair and customizing including fretwork, finish repair and refinishing, electronic repair and upgrading, as well as structural repair. Alan is also author of the book "How to Make Money in the Guitar Biz" where he shares his knowledge of guitars and business strategies.

This program is intended to give a general overview of the ukulele to help the attendee decide if it is an instrument they would like to learn. Hand-outs will be provided to the class with basic musical notation, tips, and take-away information that includes advice on purchasing a ukulele as well as resources for lessons and/or self-guided instruction.
