Free for All: The Public Library - Film Screening
In cooperation with Indie Lens Pop-Up, the Davenport Public Library will host a film screening of “Free for All, The Public Library" followed by a community discussion on Monday June 2nd at 6:00pm at the Fairmount Street Branch.
'Free for All: The Public Library' tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. Join us to learn how public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere.
This program is free and open to the public. The film is an hour long. There will be a discussion afterward. Find more information on the film and watch a preview at https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/documentaries/free-for-all/.
The Davenport Public Library is proud to be an Indie Lens Pop-Up Screening Partner for this event.
