Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center Grand Reopening Open House

We are celebrating The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center's move to a brand-new space on the second floor of the Davenport Public Library at Main!

A single room on the first floor was the Special Collections’ original location, starting in 1982. In 1999, after years of effort and dedication, the creation of the lower level space fulfilled L.T. and Alice (Richardson) Sloane’s dream of a “premiere genealogy and local history collection,” serving patrons for twenty-five years.

Now the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center embarks on a new chapter in its history. It has a bright future as the Davenport Public Library’s source for local history and genealogical information. The Center and its staff are well-known for helping researchers from all over the world, assisting City of Davenport personnel, and providing reference and resource material to Quad-City patrons of all ages.

Join us for a ribbon-cutting with brief remarks from Library Director Jeff Collins. Poet Dale Haake will recite "Tally-Ho Coach,” written for RSSCC’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Staff members will be available for tours throughout the open house. Refreshments will be provided.

This event is for all ages.
