Local Author Series: Misty Urban

Local author Misty Urban will present "On Writing the Short, the Short-Short, and the Not-So-Short Story: How to Figure out the Length Your Story Wants to Be." She will also hold a question and answer session after her presentation.

Misty Urban is the author of two short story collections, A LESSON IN MANNERS, which won the Serena McDonald Kennedy Award for Fiction (Snake Nation Press, 2016) and THE NECESSARIES, a finalist for the Indie Star Book Award (Paradisiac Publishing, 2018). Her stories have appeared most recently in Sweet Tree Review, Fiction Attic, District Lit, and The Cerurove, and have placed in the River Cities Reader’s short fiction and the MWC’s Iron Pen contests. She has been honored with the Great River Writer’s Retreat, the David R. Collins Literary Achievement Award, and the Outstanding Literary Arts Educator Award from the Midwest Writing Center, and she is the current president of Writers on the Avenue in Muscatine.
