Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society: "Spinsters and Widows: Using Women to Reconstruct Families" presented by Legacy Family Tree Webinars Online

Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society and the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center of the Davenport Public Library invite you to their monthly meeting.

In celebration of Woman's History Month, our March presentation is about "Spinsters and Widows: Using Women to Reconstruct Families" offered through Legacy Family Tree Webinars. This presentation is presented by Shannon Green, CG, who is a genealogy researcher, writer, and educator. The description from the Legacy Family Tree website states, "We frequently bemoan the dearth of records left by women, but records left by spinsters and widows can be particularly valuable for reconstructing families when properly analyzed. Many people neglect to research spinsters (women who never married) as they have no descendants, but to whom shall they leave their estates? Extended family! Tracing widows to see who they live with can reveal previously unknown family members. See examples where women’s records have illuminated familial relationships and learn strategies to apply to your own research." Join us and see what you can learn about the ancestors in your family.

This program is scheduled to be held in person and virtually.

This program is suitable for adults and teens.
